Curren hasn’t been feeling particularly well, today! I swear, he pooped, like, 5 times! He’s getting another tooth in, along the bottom of his mouth, and so he’s got the usual “teething fever” and stuff.
In the past couple of weeks, Curren’s done some funky stuff, which I shall now recount to you!
About 2 days BEFORE his 9th month birthday, Curren said his first word: DONE.
Yes, DONE. Not mommy or daddy or “NO”. He said Done. We were at a friends house, and he said it three times, plain as day, in reference to the bottle I was trying to feed him. DONE. He says it on occasion, now, when he’s done eating, but not very often. Dan and I try to get him to say it more often, and I think he realizes it’s a circus trick to us. We suspect he says other things, but we’re not tuned in properly to catch it. I SWEAR he said “I love you” to Gabby, the other day. Kathy and I both heard him, but... I’m not going to push it. DONE is fine with me, right now.
He also stood on his own, the day before his 9th month birthday.
He does that a lot more often, the standing on his own thing. He’s experimenting with walking, but he still holds on to things to walk. He’ll walk all around the house, if he has something to hold on to. He took a faltering step towards Dan, once, but that was it.
Here’s the FUNNY thing he does:
Curren uses his food to lure one of our cats to him, in order to pull at the cat’s tail!
Curren will use a biter bisquit or a ‘nilla wafer and hold it out with ONE hand, and when Ounce comes to him, Curren might feed the cat for a moment with his cookie, but then he’ll switch hands to grab on to the cat! He does this over and over again. It’s really kind of funny. The problem with this is that Curren often loses his food to the cats! ORRRRRR, he gets cat hair on his food when he eats it. Probably why he’s feeling a little ill, now! I’m trying to get the kid to stop doing that, but...
Curren is a VERY finicky eater. We’ve been experimenting with making his food at home. We have a little hand operated food processor. Curren might eat some
table foods, but mostly he just spits it out, right now.
He likes the jar stuff, and he’s so skinny (in my opinion) that I’d rather feed him the jar stuff right now. Also, his poop is WAY different on table food! That stuff just rips right through him! It’s sad, the way he cries when he’s letting loose! The jar foods seem gentler on his system. I’m going to return to jar foods, with some home made stuff every now and then. My friend, Kathy, lent me a book full of baby food recipes that I’m going to use to update curren’s diet.
